The Challenge: COVID-19 has affected all New Yorkers, causing worry and stress throughout all aspects of life. This pandemic, as well as the recent “Public Charge” Rule, has prevented immigrant communities from seeking the care and city resources they need due to fear.
Our Impact: DCF, along with the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, created a multilingual campaign promoting city services available to all New Yorkers regardless of immigration status, ability to pay or employment status. From food assistance to emergency medicaid, COVID-19 testing to free legal help, New Yorkers have the right to seek support without fear, especially during this public health crisis. In only a few short weeks, newspaper, digital, video and social media ads ran in more than 10 languages throughout New York City, reaching various disadvantaged communities and immigrant populations.
